Adidas have jumped on the ultra light weight thing with the new Forum Mid Crazy Light.

One of adidas' iconic 80s basketball styles gets a featherweight makeover. The lightweight elements come from the new Sprintweb technology, a single-layer welded mesh upper and an EVA midsole that make it the lightest and most technically advanced Forum ever.
