Lewis's 5th Floor: A Department Story at Orange Dot

The Orange Dot Gallery are back with what looks like another great exhibition, this time from photographer Stephen King.

Stephen King has captured both the history and character of the abandoned 5th floor of the Grade Two listed building in Liverpool, department store Lewis'sLewis's Department Store traded for over 150 years, closing finally in 2010.  Inspired by the evocative space and the people who worked their, in 2008 King embarked on an ambitious project to document the forgotten floor through his images and the stories of the people who worked their.

The project resulted in a series of photographs, depicting the story of the 5th floor and featuring over 38 staff members, past and present.  The images and stories from staff were published in the book "Lewis's 5th Floor:  A Department Story."

Lewis's 5th Floor: A Department Story runs from 18th March-24th April at the Orange Dot Gallery, 54 Tavistock Place, Bloomsbury, London, WC1H 9RG
