Red Bull Mini Drome

Red Bull are bringing their Mini Drome to London next weekend and inviting you to watch the fun for free!

On Saturday 15th January the world's smallest velodrome will be introduced to the UK when the Red Bull Mini Drome hits York Hall in London's East End.

Red Bull will be creating the world's smallest velodrome to challenge fixed gear riders from across the capital.

The purpose built track has been engineered in Germany by Velotrack, the team that built the velodromes for the Atlanta Olympics and the Delhi Commonwealth Games.  The Red Bull Mini Drome track will maintain race worth dimensions in the smallest possible size to enable a single pursuit.  The course will challenge both body and mind as riders will need to navigate themselves around a unique, and technically challenging, course reaching speeds of up to 80km/h. (that's just under 50mph in real money)

The event will be open to spectators of all ages.  York Hall has a 500 people capacity and is free to the public on a first come, first served basis.  There is no entry fee, however a donation to Hearn Hill Velodrome would be welcome.

Qualifying will start at 3pm and is open to over 100 competitors in a single timed race.  Riders will be timed using the Velotrack Timing System.  The 32 fastest riders in qualifying across the 10 laps will progress through the competition to the finals, which will be a single pursuit race format held from 7pm.

If you think your man enough to take on the Mini Drome head HERE to apply to ride.

The Red Bull Mini Drome starts at 3pm on Saturday 15th January 2011 at York Hall, 5 Old Ford Road, Bethnal Green, London E2 9PJ.
