Location: Meribel, France

Debuting in March 2010, Meribel Little World Festival combines five days of skiing and snowboarding in the largest ski area in the world, with entertainment from Europe's biggest bands and DJ's.  Ski or snowboard by day and party from sun set with over 40 live acts during the week, and a free outdoor concert on the piste.

Acts confirmed for 2011 already include Sophie Ellis-Bexter, The Feeling and Freemasons.  There will also be a new attraction with a three-day snowboard Big Air and Rail competition, featuring the best male and female riders in the UK.

Name: The Big Snow Festival
Date: 13-20th March
Location: Arinsal, Andorra

Avid readers of nextnoize.com will already by aware of the Big Snow Festival... This festival also debuted in 2010 and nestled quietly in the mountains between France and Spain, Arinsal is easy to get to and has some of the best slopes around for beginners and more experienced shredders.  There's also a 40000 square metre snow park to get involved in.

Acts already confirmed for the Big Snow include Example, Judge Jules, Tim Westwood and Scott Mills and there'll also be a St. Patrick's Day themed street party.

Name: Jazz Up Festival
Date: 19-26th March
Location: Avoriaz, France

Probably a bit more mellow than most, this Portes du Soleil resort started to cater for the more sophisticated music taste in 2008.  Combining a more chilled out skiing atmosphere with live jazz around Avoriaz, the Jazz Up Festival includes 40 dinner concerts in one week, with four exceptional concerts in the festival hall and numerous other jazz events.

The Jazz Up Festival features a solo piano set from Tigran Hamasyan, a concert from the Nicolas Folmer Quartet & Rosario Giuliani and a gospel night from Liz Comb.

Name: The BRITS Music & Winter Festival
Date: 20-27th March
Location: Laax, Switzerland

This is the British Ski & Snowboard Championships.  This one is for the hardcore, the real deal.  Expect some amazing ski and snowboard action with 7 nights of live music and DJ acts including a set from festival heavyweights, Pendulum.

With action from some of the UK's best snow athletes, including Ben Kilner, Zoe Gillings and three times X-Games Gold medalist, Jenny Jones this definitely promises to be an action packed week.

Name: Snowbombing
Date: 4-9th April
Location: Mayrhofen, Austria

Snowbombing is the one that started the winter festival thing.  Fresh air, blue skies, black runs and white-hot parties, Snowbombing is to snow what Glastonbury is to grass.  An exhilarating week-long whirlwind of brilliant bands and world class DJs in the chocolate box alpine setting of Mayrhofen, Austria.  Snowbombing is now regarded by many as 'The Greatest Show on Snow'.  A unique, mischievous celebration that everyone should experience.

Running since 2000, Snowbombing has featured a plethora of world class acts.  2011 doesn't fail to impress, with the Prodigy, Fatboy Slim, Pendulum and Tinie Tempah, to name a few, filling the biggest line-up in 11 years.  It's going to be the biggest alpine show yet.
