Coinciding with London Fashion Week, James Hyman Gallery is pleased to present fourteen works from Albrecht Tübke's most recent photographic series.
The series of photos was initially inspired by August Sander's "People of the Twentieth Century", Tübke's subjects are framed in situ in their own attire.
Tübke's recent portraits employ a neutral background of street and wall as a stage for personal expresstion and also a conceptual framework documenting aspects of contemporary Europe. As the artist stated...
"I want to show people from a variety of different backgrounds, as I am interested in the range of ways in which people present their public face. Through constant exposure to the multitude of public personae with which we are presented, we have become anaesthetised to the range of individuals that surround us. In this project, I am attempted to distil something of the essence of that individual."
Albrecht Tübke. Made In Italy is the first solo exhibition in the UK for this celebrated German photographer and runs at the James Hyman Gallery, 5 Saville Row, London from 15th September-6th November.
