Celebrating it's 14th year since its inception and its 3rd year at BFI's Southbank, onedotzero_adventures in motion promises to continue presenting the most exciting, radical and innovative international moving image work. This autumn's festival will show a programme of short films, music promos and animation with an emphasis on utopian visions.
Robotica is a highlighted theme, exploring ethics and social effects of robots and androids, while Code Warriors will investigate trends in using computer code as raw material for moving image. The introduction of Ladymation will see a new programme showcasing work by female directors leading the way in animation.
Below is our first pick of music-inspired films from Edouard Salier. Splitting the Atom from Massive Attack's critically acclaimed album Heligoland. Salier depicts a dark, frozen moment in time of a cataclysmic disaster. Shards of devestation portray a split second between a perfect polished world and its complete destruction. This may have been around for six months, but it's still every bit as breathtaking as the first time we watched it.
Keep your eyes peeled here for further programming to be announced for 2010's festival.
