Dior Illustrated: René Gruau and the Line of Beauty at Somerset House

This winter, Somerset House will be hosting an incredible collection of René Gruau's iconic fashion and beauty images for Christian Dior.

Curated by Christian Dior Parfums in consultation with Somerset House, René Gruau and the Line of Beauty promises to be a celebration of the renowned illustrator (1909-2004), showcasing his groundbreaking artwork including original illustrations for Christian Dior Parfums, vintage perfume bottles, sketches, magazines and a selection of Dior Haute Couture dresses. 

René Gruau’s style of illustration set a precedent for fashion illustration with his seductive bold lines, elegant fluidity and expressive use of colour. His work perfectly communicated the energy and spirit of Dior and has inspired generations of artists, designers and fashion illustrators.

Due to open winter 2010, this an exhibition sure to help us forget our predictable winter woes and transport us to a world of luxury opulence.
