Anticipation for the UK's first Creators Project event has been building for some time. Yesterday we went along to the opening party and press conference and we can tell you, you're in for a real treat! Here's just a bit of what to expect...
After months of eagerly watching new artist's video bios from Intel and Vice's collaboration The Creators Project, the UK leg of the world wide creative tour opens today in London.
Prior to opening to the public, yesterday's press conference took place with the brains at the helm of the project, Shane Smith founder of Vice, John Galvin Intel's Director of Partner Marketing, producer Mark Ronson and Art Director Trevor Jackson.
Speaking about when The Creators Project was a just seed of an idea, started with just a few inspirational videos blurring the lines between art and technology that worked their way around the globe, accruing thousands of unprecedented views, the future of the collaborative project is due to be even more influential. Expanding on the concept, Intel and Vice plan to encourage the world to embrace technology as a way of enabling creativity and it's endless possibilties. Creative ambassadors Mark Ronson and Trevor Jackson spoke about how flattered they were to be asked to play such an influential role in the project and their hope for inspiring a new generation with technology at their disposal.
Ronson spoke of how technology has given a new wave of creative thinkers even greater potential to realise their ideas and pondered with the panel "Why do you need me when you've already gathered all of these creative individuals?". Trevor Jackson seemed equally humbled to be a representative of the new project.
The Creators Project opens today with interactive light installations from United Visual Artists, screenings and performances from Mark Ronson, Kele and Tinchy Stryder, the one off groundbreaking event is sure to be just the beginning of many more to come.
Featuring work from Radical Friend, Mauritz Waldemeyer as well as an indoor forest, The Creators Project exhibition is free and open from 12pm to 5pm to those without tickets and until 3am for those lucky enough to have tickets to the evening's performances.
