L-R: "You Stop You Die" by Ivan Navarro Limited Editon, "Playa Look" by Cari Manden, Charmingly Beautiful by Manish Arora, "Too Many Memories" by Enki Belal |
This time around they've responded to the emotions of forming relationships by collaborating with London designer Cassette Playa, designer Manish Arora who has previously worked with Swatch, film director and artist Anki Belal and artist Ivan Navarro. Each responded with their own individual ideas of time and emotions and the outcome is a collection of five fantastic watches.
At the launch press conference, each collaborator offered insights into the inspirations behind their designs. Cari Manden a.k.a Cassette Playa explained her influence from her life in London as well as her Pagan beliefs. Her interest in spiritualism and the time-telling theories of Stone Henge were the catalysts behind her self-describe "future primative" style watch.
Ivan Navarro's watch represents darker emotions. He references death and resistance from living through the civil war in Chile, while also hinting at light and hope.
Anki Bilal described his design as being truly influenced by the idea of time and how it affects us all every day. He is the only designer to have two watches in the collection. Each watch has pushed Swatch's design limits, with different clasps, varying parts exposed and customised straps. Manish Arora made the most of his design by adding a wider wristband with signature bold colour scheme and illustrations.
The collection is available now at Swatch stores and online. These must-have watches come with their own exclusively designed presentation boxes, with a limited edition run of Ivan Navarro's watch and box. Don't waste any time, visit Swatch's website to get a piece of the action!
