On This Day - Eazy-E

15 years ago today Eric 'Eazy-E' Wright passed away. Here, we celebrate a small portion of his legacy.

Eazy-E was born and raised in LA's Compton neighbourhood.  Eazy-E spent most of his teenage years selling drugs as a member of the Kelly Park Compton Crips before using money raised by drug dealing to co-found Ruthless Records with Jerry Heller.  Signing Dr. Dre and Ice Cube before joining them in the line-up of NWA dropping their first album, Straight Outta Compton in 1988.

Eazy-E, Boyz n tha Hood

After the demise of NWA in 1991 Eazy E and Dr. Dre started beefin' with an array of diss songs including Eazy E's 'Real Mother Fucking G's'.

Tragically, Eazy E passed away on 26th March 1995 in Los Angeles, California.

Bone Thugs 'n' Harmony re-wrote and released 'Tha Crossroads' as a tribute to Eazy-E in 1996.

R.I.P Eric 'Eazy-E' Wright.
